David Haak of Texarkana was appointed to the Arkansas Highway Commission by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in January 2023.
Haak is a graduate of Henderson State University and is the owner of First Tape and Label in Texarkana. Haak has previously served many roles in public service including the Texarkana Arkansas Zoning and Planning Commission, the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman in 2008, and Texarkana Arkansas City Council. At the state level, Haak has served on the Arkansas Waterways Commission, Arkansas Economic Development Commission and was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999-2004.
Haak and his wife Debbie have been married for over 50 years and are longstanding members of Beech Street First Baptist Church. They have one daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law Michael and three young adult grandchildren. Since turning the operations of the business over to his daughter, Haak can be found on his pecan farm on most days.
Haak’s term will expire in January 2033.
